Disney Plus is the hottest arrival in the global streaming TV space since Netflix. It launched in Australia and New Zealand on 19 November 2019. The movie and TV line-up is robust and has now surpassed 2,100 titles.

While that number still isn't as much as other services, we've seen Disney grow its library rapidly with the addition of its adults-focused Star channel, which boosted the Aussie library by over 600 titles on 23 February 2021.

Thankfully a host of release dates has been revealed for legacy content that did not make launch and for new originals. Unlike its original launch, Disney Plus is no longer storing the dates in the interface except for its Premier Access titles.

The list of upcoming Disney Plus movie release dates includes titles for 2021 and into 2023. These dates coincide with existing streaming licences with rival services lapsing. It's quite a task to go through it all, but don't worry, we've done it for you.

Which movies and shows are coming to Disney Plus in 2021 and beyond?

Disney has big plans for its original content. There are at least 11 Marvel films and series still to come after the 2021 June release of Loki. On the Star Wars front, there are also 9 brand new shows and movies. That doesn't even account for likely new Mandalorian seasons.

The next big chunk of titles landed on Disney Plus Day on 12 November 2021, the second anniversary of Disney Plus launching. It introduced the new Home Alone film, Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Jungle Cruise, and a new TV show called Dopesick, to name a few.

Will these shows and movies release in all Disney Plus territories?

What we can't tell you at this stage is which territories outside of Australia will receive this content on the dates in the table above. We know this is the planned release date for Australia only. But planned doesn't mean set in stone – things change. They change all the time in the complex world of streaming TV, let alone with coronavirus continuing to affect the world.

It's also worth noting that there is a lot of new original content in the works for Disney Plus. Cinema-bound blockbusters are also migrating to the service. Plus, there is a humungous back catalogue of TV shows yet to receive release dates too. So, this list will bloom. And as dates for these shows come to light, we'll update the list.
